Teufelsstein.pdf
A collection of 63 local legends of devil's rocks, former pagan altar stones still scattered across the European landscape. These medieval tales tell of the devil hurling rocks at churches, drinking and dancing on top of them, or trapping innocent souls within. Through these stories, the compilation explores recurring patterns of myth-making and the way in which Christian doctrine gave new meaning to the sacred sites of the old world.
